How do White Alligators Breed

The White Alligators will start the process of mating in spring, when the temperature is at its peak. By using all sorts of aural, visual, tactile and olfactory cues, they will try to attract their mate.

This is the first step in White Alligator Gestation and White Alligator reproduction.

Their bellowing sound is lower than the vibrations of their sound which travels at a considerable distance in water. After Mating, females will lay eggs in the nest made from vegetation. The incubation period goes for 65 days, whereby females give all protection to the young ones. The sex of the White Alligator depends on temperature. As the time of hatching comes, their squeaking alerts the mother and she will then help the young ones to come out of their hard shell eggs. These young ones are just 8 to 10 inches long. Mother then will carry these young ones into the safety of water.

In the waters juveniles will form a pod and for two years, they will remain under the protection of their mothers.

Where White Alligators can be kept?

White Alligators requires special housing including an indoor, climate-controlled room and pool with limited filtered sunlight. These White Alligators are very rare and they are now only kept in zoos. They can be seen in zoos and National parks like Louisiana zoo, Omaha's Henry Doorly zoo, Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, Cincinnati Zoo, Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, Los Angeles Zoo.

Enemies of White Alligators

Sun is the biggest enemy of white Alligator. As the white Alligators lack pigmentation, they get sun burns very easily. Their other enemies are all kinds of predators. It is the white skin which is responsible for them to become an easy prey to predators as they can be spotted easily.

White Alligators bring Good Luck

White alligators are revered.. Eastern mythology claims that seeing a white alligator brings good luck. According to Cajun lore, staring into the eyes of a white alligator brings good luck and fortune.

There are very popular urban legends associated to Alligators dating back to 1920s. When the royal families return from Florida to New York, they would bring baby Aligators as presents for their children and when these alligators grew large, they are flushed down the toilet, and into the drains to live for ever.
