Feeding your Crocodile

You should feed them with chicken heads or kangaroo meat. Sometimes beef and horse offal can also be given. They will give more proteins and calcium.

Caimans should be fed three to four times a week, or once every two days while they're young which is good for those crocodile immune system. Caiman's food also depends on climate. Females will eat less during pregnancy as their stomachs are already full. Smaller animals require multivitamin and calcium powder along with normal diet.

You should feed them by keeping a safe distance. You can feed them with the pair of tongs, or a similar device. Yu can also use a piece of piano wire, bent into an appropriate shape. If he doesn't want to take the food immediately, it should be left on the land area, preferably on a shallow dish.

Health Care

Health care of your Crocodile is important. For good health, a proper balanced diet should be given to them. For checking the health a good record of feeding behavior should be kept including body size and its weight. A loss of muscle mass around the tail neck, and reduced volume of the abdomen are signs of anorexia or poor digestion efficiency. They can also be affected by septicaemia disease, which can be diagnosed if they have discoloration on belly. They can also get pathogenic problems due to poor hygienic conditions, especially in an enclosure containing both water and land.

Thermal Stress

- In this type of stress the animal is unable to execute the process of thermoregulation correctly.

Capture Stress -

This is caused when the animal is caught. It is less severe in juveniles and more in old age.

They can also suffer from other diseases like:

Ulcers, swellings and abscesses on their feet affected from infected bites or abrasion in the enclosure.

Mouth rot, or stomatitis caused due to stress, malnutrition, or unhygienic conditions and other diseases.

Medical Care

At least once a year, crocodiles should be examined by veterinarian , and if suffers from health problem immediate attention is required. Regular blood panel checks and x-rays should also be conducted to assess overall health.

Taming Crocodiles

You can only tame Crocodile, theoretically but practically, it is very difficult.

Legal procedure for keeping Crocodilian is different in different countries. For example, in UK you must prove your worth in keeping crocos. In California it is absolutely illegal to keep crocos, whereas in some states rules are flexible. Thus you can buy Crocodile but only with lots of skill and precautions.
